A natural valley runs alongside the driveway leading to this picturesque rocky site in Joshua Tree. A crystalline structure appears to grow out of the valley below and pierces the polished, gem-like forms of the building. The fragmented, transparent nature of this structure visually connects the separate structures of the main house and art studio while also providing necessary wind and sun shading. A short hike from the main house is a hammam pavilion, built from rammed earth from the site, that provides a spiritual retreat for the homeowner.
