Fremont Residence
Fremont Place is one of the first gated residential communities in Los Angeles which dates back to 1911. This residence was one of the first homes built in the development by King C. Gillette, the razor manufacturer, in 1917. Over it’s century of existence it’s had only a few owners, the most notable of which was the leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles who added a chapel and converted the second floor sleeping quarters into a convent. Our intent with this renovation is to restore the main living spaces on the first floor, bringing them back to their original glory by salvaging the original millwork and detailing. A more open concept family kitchen and living room will be added to the rear of the house within the original covered porch. On the second floor we will be undoing the convent style layout of dormitory-like rooms and creating a proper master suite along with five junior suites.
