The homeowners of this single-story hillside residence came to us with a desire to take their existing home and find a way to better take advantage of the downslope rear yard below while also capitalizing on the views of downtown Los Angeles. The new addition separates itself from the existing ground floor by rotating east to face directly towards downtown.  This grid shift naturally will direct the focus of the house towards downtown.  The lower level addition consists of a rec room and bar that engages with a new pool and outdoor dining area. The upper level addition contains a new master suite with wrap around deck to enjoy the panoramic views from Santa Monica all the way to downtown.
